ADMIN: Reminders re: HP4GU Community

Hi everyone --

It seems that we may need a reminder about the overall structure of the 
greater HP4GU community (sounds like I'm talking about a large metro 
area, doesn't it?).

HP4GU (HPforGrownups) has several sister groups that you should know about:

1.  MOVIE -- Anything relating to the MOVIE(s) should go *only* to our 
HP4GU-MOVIE list.  No MOVIE stuff should be posted here to the main list 
anymore.  So far, only 295 of our 2400 members have joined the MOVIE 
list.  I find it hard to believe that more of you don't want to discuss 
the MOVIE.  :--)

2.  Announcements -- News links (not full stories!), JKR sightings, book 
signings, plugs for fanfic chapter releases, new merchandise, etc. 
should go *only* to our Announcements list.  Here's the URL for that one:

3.  OT-Chatter - Anything Off-topic (but not inflammatory or 
specifically prohibited such as politics) can be discussed with other 
members of the HP4GU community in this sister group.  It's *fun* -- come 
join us!  And don't even think about posting to the main group & 
starting out with "I think this might be OT but ..." (that will get you 
a e-howler!).

4.  Convention -- We recently formed a sister group for people 
interested in a HP Convention.  Join the fun at:

5.  We also have various regional groups (NY, New England, Texas, 
Florida, California, Great Lakes, Washington D.C., London, Germany, 
etc.) -- check the Files section for further information on these groups.

We realize this is a more complicated structure than most Yahoogroups, 
but it isn't really too difficult to work with once you've got the hang 
of it.

Just remember this simple rule: if your post is discussing the books in 
some form, chances are good that it belongs on the main group.  If it's 
*not* discussing the books, stop & think about where it goes.

If you ever have a question about whether a post is appropriate for the 
main group, please feel free to contact the Moderators at either 
hpforgrownups-owner at yahoogroups.com or MagicalMods at yahoogroups.com.  You 
should also feel free to contact your List Elf if you are a new member. 
  That's what the List Elves are there for.  They are eager to be of 
service in fact.
