Wild speculation? You want that, do you? Well... ;-)

I feel sure that there is a very strong connection between Dumbledore
and Hagrid that we haven't yet gone into properly. Has anyone here
mentioned Geomancy yet? I can't find anything in the archives, so
I'll risk making an idiot of myself and dive in (so what else is
new?):

OK, Geomancy is this old divination system, not used much now
(probably because it's pretty complex for "one of the most imprecise
branches of magic").

Anyway, there are 16 geomantic "figures" (these figures are shapes
created by dots, bear with me). Two of them are Rubeus, which is
associated with the colour red and with warnings, danger, outbursts
of temper, AND... (you've guessed) Albus, which is associated with
the colour white, and with such things as guidance and wisdom.

Remember that Fortuna Major was used as a password (in, I think,
CoS)? Well, Fortuna Major is another geomantic figure (associated
with winning and luck).

And, while I'm rambling on this subject, two other figures are Caput
Draconis and Cauda Draconis (the head and tail of the dragon -
signifying entrances and ways out).

What does this mean for the Harry Potter universe? I don't know, but
I think JKR must be aware of Geomancy to use these words and maybe as
names they'll provide clues to future storylines.

OK, now you all think I'm completely mad, don't you? <cringe>
Amalia
