(CBSTF) and the search for examples.
How about Harry's conversation with the snake in SS/PS? We're
allowed to think it's a normal wizarding ability until CoS, when we
find out that most wizards think it's suspect.
There's also the famous gleam in Dumbledore's eye. That's yet
to be explained, and some people feel it foreshadows
something sinister. If it turns out that it is benign, that will be
CBSTF, won't it?
Another example might be all those vampire references. <veg>
We don't know yet whether they apply to Snape or not, but JKR
has misled either the 20% of us who think there's some
connection, or the 60% who think there's not. (According to the
poll, the other 10% believe Snape is a HP4GU moderator )
It does seem awfully odd to me that we have vampire
references all over the place, but while we've met House Elves,
goblins, trolls, centaurs, merpeople, veela, a dwarf, a werewolf ,
a half-giant and a suspected hag or two, we've yet to encounter
any vamps. So far as we know, that is.
