Why Voldemort doesn't challenge Dumbledore?

There was a theory floating around the group sometime ago that Harry 
might be the Heir of Gryffindor. That is he is descended from Godric 
Gryffindor through James' family. It's a theory based upon the 
Voldemort-Slytherin relationship: if there's an Heir of Slytherin 
there might well be an Heir of Gryffindor.

My point about Hogwarts Castle is that it might be a power reservior 
to anyone who "rules" over it. Which might answer the original 
question posed by this thread. Voldemort might have to gain enough 
power to topple Dumbledore who gets a power boost from Hogwarts 
itself.
