He is saying the Gryffindor blood passed down through the lines--ie,
James as the carrier, not Lily.  Therefore, Harry would get it from James.

*gets goosebumps just thinking about it* I sure hope JKR's little
elves are jotting this down, because this would definitely make
awesome future plot material!  Malfoy's house is an old manor--passed
down through a long line of Dark wizards?  Fanfic writers, eat your
hearts out!
