   I suspect you may be idealizing Miss Marvolo. Maybe
she was in love with Tom Sr. - or maybe she was just
after a rich husband. Naming her son after his father
could have been a calculated act to reinforce her
claim on him. Did she really die? Or could she have
abandoned her child when she realized she wasn't going
to be able to squeeze any money out of his father?
There's no way of knowing whether she was really the
tragically wronged woman Voldy describes or a scheming
little baggage who met her match.
