This is not a movie post, but the thought occurred to me after seeing the movie that Trevor is in many ways not the standard pet/familiar the kids bring to Hogwarts.

First, on the list of animals the students are permitted to bring, there is no mention of a toad.  So Trevor is somehow outside the rules, but tolerated.  Secondly, he is far more present than the other pets...for example, he's in Potions class to be threatened by Snape.

What if Trevor isn't really a toad at all, but a person? Perhaps he is Neville's twin, who was turned into a toad at the same time the Longbottoms were tortured and Neville received his (assumed) memory blocking spell?  Trevor's name, as a magical individual, would have been transcribed in the magic book at his birth, as was Neville's.  So Trevor would have every right to be at Hogwarts with Neville.

I'm probably completely off base, but it's sort of a wacky thought to end my Thanksgiving Day!
