I think I prefer rotten eggs to tomatoes because the smell is
more effective. :-) Just a note: I don't know how everyone else
pictures the tunnel leading to the Shrieking Shack, I for myself
picture it as being narrow and perhaps winded. I seriously doubt
that there would be room enough to move a stretcher. BTW the
means of transportation for Snape was Lupin's idea, not Sirius',
and why didn't Harry object and say something when he saw Snape's
head scratching the ceiling? As for Sirius, well, I'm inclined to
admit that he wouldn't have cared under any circumstances, but
I still think that his mental state was in great part responsible
for the reactions we saw during the whole confrontation. And don't
forget that Snape had just threatened to feed him to the Dementors,
and this definitely scared the living daylights out of him. Maybe
Snape wouldn't have done it after all, I don't know, but Sirius
certainly was convinced he'd do it.

I didn't have the impression that Snape already knew about Sirius
when Dumbledore confronted them in the hospital wing. I hope he
told him afterwards, and of course Sirius needs to know about Snape,
too. Although I don't like Snape, I believe he has some kind of
sense of honour, so probably he might consider it his duty to help
clear Sirius' name if he could. And I'm pretty sure Sirius would
be able to respect Snape once he knows what he does for Dumbledore.
If he knew that Snape had been the one to try to warn the Potters,
because I am among those who believe that Snape was the spy
Dumbledore sent to warn them.
Monika,
always in the mood to defend Sirius.
