[HPforGrownups] Wormtail, Snape, Voldemort and the marauder's map

And another thing...At the end of PoA Snape says he had found Lupin and co. 
when he looked at the marauder's map on Lupin's desk that Lupin had 
apparently forgotten to erase. What stumps me is the fact the Snape didn't 
take the map, or turn it in. Maybe he, like Lupin, was too interested in 
hurrying over the Shrieking Shack to bother with it?
