JKR has confirmed that it's Evans.  We don't know yet why her maiden
name is Evans and not Smith, Jones, or Papathanassiou; but some of
us have noted that "Severus Snape" is an anagram of "Perseus Evans"(!)
Does this mean that the big SS is Harry's half-uncle who once saved
Lily from a sea monster?  We don't know yet...
