Hmmm. I'm not sure what Snape really knows about the relationship
between Harry and Sirius. Initially, Snape believes Harry was
confunded. Yes, Snape later accuses Harry of helping Sirius escape,
but we don't know if Snape comes to accept Dumbledore's statement
that Harry couldn't have done it. Also, Snape was unconscious for
the key events in the Shrieking Shack that solidified the
relationship between Harry and Sirius. Consequently, Snape might not
have reason to think Harry is communicating with Sirius, so Snape
wouldn't necessarily keep an eye on the owls Harry sends.
