Sirius said something about the dementors not being abe to sense animal 
emotions. He was able to escape because the dementors thought he was going 
crazy and couldn't "sense" him. And Dementors feed off human emotions, as 
stated by Lupin. A dementor wouldn't be able to sense an animagi to find it 
and suck out it's soul. Also, they wouldn't *want* to suck out an animal's 
soul because they feed off human emotion.
