While it's possible that the trio simply weren't aware of how to
magically search the library when they were trying to track down
Nicolas Flamel or a method for Harry to breath underwater for the
second task, I think that a fast magical method for doing this is
unlikely to be revealed by JKR. In fact, while I was reading GoF, I
was wishing for Harry's sake that he could simply go to a wizarding
version of a computer hooked up to the world wide web, type
in "breathing underwater," and get links to numerous web sites (with
real webs, of course <g>) that had this information. This is
definitely one advantage Muggles have over the wizarding world.
Think how quickly they could have learned about Nicolas Flamel!

<silliness>
What sort of core does your ruler have? Phoenix feather, dragon
heartstring, unicorn tail-hair or veela hair?
