Of course it will!  Remember when Dumbledore was speaking to Harry in 
the hospital wing right after Harry nearly kills himself by grabbing 
Quirrell's face?  The first question out of Harry's mouth is "why 
would Voldemort want to kill me?  And, Dumbledore says that he's not 
ready to have the answer to that yet.

Actually, as a LOON-ish nitpick, Voldemort wasn't trying to wipe out 
the Potters -- he was fine with letting Lily live if she got out of 
the way: or at least it seems so.  Personally, I think that for some 
reason he *specifically* wanted to wipe out Harry!
