Timeline question

I did a search of the Lexicon and the list faqs, and all of them 
place PS/SS as the 1991/1992 school year, but I was unable to find 
anywhere an explanation of this.  I've also seen (in the list 
archives maybe??) the use of the Playstation that Dudley has as 
evidence that would make the books -- if anything -- more recent.

However, if you use the Flamel timeline: i.e.; that Nicholas Flamel 
was 658 years old, we come across an earlier date.  Since Flamel's 
live is (fairly) well documented and his birthdate is easily 
obtainable as 1330, that would make the first school year most likely 
be 1987/1988!  Any comments, or can you at least point me to a site 
that categorizes this information?  Like I said, I couldn't find 
anything on the Lexicon or the List FAQ.
