First off, I love the way you numbered the events.  Made it very easy to 
read!  Snape trying for the Order of Merlin does make a lot of sense.  At 
first, he struck me as the type of guy that would sneer at any award the MoM 
would try to present to him, but he just positively gushed oil when Fudge 
mentioned it in PoA.  I can see him letting Fudge and the Dementor get out of 
control for a few while he was happily daydreaming about the Order of Merlin, 
definitely.
