Hi everyone,

Flying Ford Anglia here - your rusty mechanimagus moderator

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the torrent of messages posted to this
list? That may be because the default delivery setting
is "Individual emails" and, whilst that may be fine for the Penge Cat
Fanciers' list, for a list this busy, it can be a bit much.

You agree? Well, I'm here to tell you that if you want to cut down
on the email onslaught, there are ways you can do that and still
enjoy the highs and lows of the list.

If you visit the club's homepage
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/) and access the area
labelled "Edit My Membership," you will see the following options in
the section labelled "Message Delivery":-

***"Daily digest" - batches of up to 25 messages are combined into a
single, big emails. NB: You will have to remember to change the
header line when replying to Digest posts!

***"Only special announcements" – you only get important emails that
the moderators feel you should see. This option is otherwise the
same as "No email," as they both stop the flow of emails to your in-
box and allow you to view the message boards online.

Please note that you must choose "Special Announcements" rather
than "No emails" as we may need to reach you
 you never know.

Of course, another way to reduce the number of messages is for
everyone here to observe those incredibly popular list rules, as
outlined in our Admin files:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/files/Admin%20Files/

Advice such as "combine your messages," "check if that's been
discussed recently" and "don't post unnecessary one liners" is
designed to keep the message volume under control.
