[HPforGrownups] Do "the old crowd" know Sirius is Innocent and what about Rita Skeeter?

I wondered that too, but then figured Sirius would be smart enough to
go to Remus Lupin first, who is both a member of said "old crowd" and
knows Sirius is innocent. Presumably Lupin would then vouch for
Sirius' innocence to Figg, Fletcher et. al.

I've been wondering about that too. Skeeter presumably also knows
about Voldemort's return and Fudge and Dumbledore's "parting of the
ways" over the former's refusal to believe it.
