I've just been listening to PoA again and have been struck by a couple of questions which I'm hoping someone can answer:

In the Shrieking Shack, how were they planning to kill Wormtail? Surely they wouldn't be using Avada Kedavra - Sirius would be cleared of one offence and put straight back in Azkaban with Remus for company!! So how were they going to kill him?

Also, having decided just to capture him, why were they stupid enough to forget 'Stupefy!' Then Wormtail couldn't have transformed and escaped. If you think it's because we hadn't met Stupefy yet, they could have used the Full Body Bind (Petrificus Totalus) and all would have been well!

Answers would be very welcome as this is really bugging me!
