Why no wizard accountants? Hmmm. It could be that wizards keep
their gold at Gringotts and suffer no taxes, so they have no need for
accountants.
If this is correct, then the only reason to believe Harry's Gringotts
vault still contains all of the gold that it did when his parents
died is if goblins are honest to a fault. Sirius' still seems to
have all of his savings as well. In fact, there doesn't seem to be a
department of MoM that governs finance (banking and investment) at
all. Or it could be that the Gringott's goblins *are* the
accountants in the wizarding world.
Another somewhat random thought that occured to me is that it doesn't
appear that wizards steal money or property from each other. Ginny
steals the diary back from Harry in CoS, but that's the only theft I
can think of. Harry doesn't do anything special that I can think of
to safeguard his Nimbus or Firebolt. Wizards kill each other, they
torture each other, they use mind control on each other, but garden-
variety pilfering seems beneath them. I wonder why?
