Hi Liquidfire! Welcome! I'm glad that you find this group so interesting.

>I just want to know, did anybody notice Ron's hints about Percy in GoB (to
>paraphrase, "I don't know... If he thought we were standing in the way of
>his career... Percy's really ambitious, you know...")? Is Percy going to
>turn up to be another Barty Crouch (unlikely, coz he's too young), or will

Yep, it's been noticed. I personally feel that Percy would never be seduced
by Voldemort, but then again, I'm a P.I.N.E. supporter (stands for Percy Is
Not Evil, founded by Penny I believe). Yes Percy is ambitious. But to say
that Percy will turn to Voldemort because of his ambition is also damning
the entire Slytherin house, isn't it? There are perfectly positive ways of
gaining "power" or "status". In fact, that's what Percy IS doing, he's
working for his prestige (and working very hard!).

Of course, if you're not a Percyfan, you'll probably be either ambivalent or
thinking he's a shoo-in for Death Eater Training Camp. Ah well, I suppose
we'll see who's right in the upcoming books! *starts another vigil for OoP*

There's been some said on this matter in the past and I won't repeat old
arguments. If you search the archive with words like "Percy ambition power"
or something similar, you'll find posts on the subject. Most recent
discussion was under the message heading of "Percy and Power" and there are
pretty good arguments further back (somewheres around message 14943).
