destribes Dumbledore's nose as long and crooked and looking as if it
had been broken more than once. Why? Madame Pomfrey can heal any
wound in less than a week, including regrowing whole arm bones. If
that kind of medical magic is out there, why are there people with
broken noses and scarred faces (Moody)?

Perhaps Dumbledore likes it that way (ditto for Mad-Eye.) Dumbledore
actually says in PS/SS 1 that scars aren't something you want to get
rid of. One would also think that magic could cure near-sightedness
yet there's lots of characters who still wear glasses...

I don't think Ron will pick up, but my 2 knuts go for something like
in the movie Dragonheart, where for one of them to die they both do.
(For those not in the know, the movie was about a prince who shared a
heart with a dragon, and in order to kill the evil prince the noble
dragon had to be sacrificed.)
