He was lying when he said that Hagrid raised werewolf cubs under his 
bed, and he was lying when he framed Hagrid as the one responsible 
for opening the Chamber.  Probably other times, too, but those are 
the only ones that come to mind right now.

RE Hagrid, Keeper of the Keys:  In my experience, the superintendent 
of a building or facility usually has keys or access to every part of 
the facility for maintenance purposes.  That's what I always thought 
was meant by being Keeper of the Keys.  In my mind, Keeper of the 
Keys implies responsibility for the buildings and grounds, and Game 
Keeper responsibility for the outlying areas, like the Forbidden 
Forest and the lake.  Make sense?
