(Snape) catches Harry outside 'during break' with the book Quidditch
Through the Ages - this sounds like a break between classes,
<<<

Is this another Briticism we need to explain? `Break' is a
regularly scheduled short period of leisure during the school day.
For example in my primary school we were timetabled

Roll call in classes 0855.

Assembly of school in hall 0900 – 0915

Four teaching periods from 0915 to 1230. We went straight from period
1 to period 2, had `Break' of 15 minutes between periods 2
and 3 then took periods 3 and 4. Then Lunch (also known as Lunch
Break) for about an hour, then 3 periods in the afternoon until
school ended at 4pm with a short Break between periods 6 and 7

Break is taken outdoors if the weather at all permits, and is the
kids own lightly supervised time.

The fact that Snape interfered with what Harry was doing in his break
time is another Bad Mark for him for all who went though British
Schools
