POA Chapter 7 Question

In POA Chapter 7 (The Boggart in the Wardrobe) is the first time that it
slips that there may be a time turner:

Hermione was panting slightly, hurrying up the stairs, one hand clutched
her bag, the other seemed to be tucking something down the front of her
robes.

"How did you do that?" said Ron.

"What?" said Hermione, joining them.

"One minute you were right behind us, the next moment, you were back at
the bottom of the stairs again."

"What?" Hermioned looked slightly confused. "Oh -- I had to go back for
something. Oh no -- "

So can someone try to help me figure out where she was when? She was
walking up the stairs with them, and when did she turn her timer an hour
back and slither away to take her 'other lesson'? She then reappeared at
the top of the stairs, slightly off-schedule? Was that why she was
confused, b/c she didn't remember where she was precisely an hour ago?
