I can only speak for myself, but there are some people who like
canon, and only canon. I'm that way. So I spend almost all of my
time here, parsing questions, speculating, etc. Maybe people like me
should give ourselves a name, like "Canonites."
Anyway, for a Canonite, it takes a long time on OT-CHATTER to get
anything that really advances your understanding of and appreciation
of canon. So I don't go over there much.
Thanks for explaining the rules and history about "contests." But I
didn't really see the derby as a "contest." It struck me as a
gimmick to launch a nifty discussion about key canon points. It
certainly wasn't off-topic, IMHO, and if it had been broken up into a
bunch of individual posts, no one would have even thought about
moving it OT-CHATTER.
I guess I am still getting used to this board. When the moderators
break in, it feels like the cops are busting up a party sometimes. I
will have to stop reacting that way, perhaps. Anyway, the moderators
should know that I think they do a good job with this board, and I do
appreciate their efforts.
Cindy (who definitely strayed off-topic in this post)
