Hello all --

Good God, I go away for a weekend and come back to find all these
people have started fan clubs for their favorite characters. Who
*are* these nuts, anyway?? ;~)

First of all, the moderators list is beginning to seem an awful lot
like the staff room of a school -- something one would like to peep
into and get a load of the conversation. I ought to mention that one
of my only successful April Fools' jokes concerned a rubber band
around the handle of the vegetable sprayer of the staff room sink at
my school. --But I'm curious as to the Mods' consensus of what
McGonagall's bra size was -- Mr. Rocky never told us! :)

Secondly, may I say long live S.C.H.A.B.B. and P.I.N.E., as well as
the other clubs that spring up as I write. It's a little like
healthy patriotism; one approves of other people's clubs as such and
hopes for long and lively alliances with them. We should have a
virtual state dinner, with diplomatic sashes and trumpet flourishes.

You can indeed expect overlap to occur between SCHABB and CRAB -- in
fact, I will go so far as to advance my own two Sickles in humble
hope of acceptance in SCHABB. My sympathy for Hermione extends quite
far, perhaps as far as my sympathy for myself (my very painful first-
grade year as teacher's pet comes to mind, painful because I hated
every minute of it, yet found myself bossing everyone about as if I
relished it). "My own heart let me more have pity on; let/Me live to
my sad self hereafter kind,/Charitable; not live this tormented
mind/With this tormented mind tormenting yet" -- a favorite line from
Gerard Manley Hopkins, which I use to explain why I personally both
indulge and cheer for Hermione, especially as I find her rather more
healthy than myself.

Grace and peace to all.

Lisa I., who wishes her biggest worry could still be what people
think of C.R.A.B., which it was on Monday the 10th.
