I grew up in 1960s California. In my childhood I
saw enough misguided 'idealism' to turn anybody into a
confirmed cynic.

It's been a while since I was eleven. I clearly
recall realizing at some stage of my remote youth
being a show-off know-it-all is *not* the way to win
friends but it may have been at a more advanced age.

   No I didn't know that! Personally I can't really
see Hermione and Harry as a couple, Ron maybe but not
Harry.

Boys one has been best friends with for years
often have much less sex-appeal than a relative
stranger.
Hermione is definitely too young to pick out a
permanent partner but she's old enough to start
looking around and learning what she wants in a man.
Krum is attractive enough and sincere enough to
warrant serious consideration.
Harry has courage, honor and a nice nature but is
still fairly immature in the girl area, (maybe next
year). He is definitely not jealous. If Hermione
wants Krum that's fine with him.
Ron certainly *is* jealous but whether from
burgeoning romantic interest or simply a sort of
brotherly possessiveness is uncertain.
Whether or not Hermione is attracted to either of
her friends she definitely wants them to recognize she
is a girl and not go on treating her like one of the guys.
