Excellent post! I'd like to add a thought on this. In GoF, there is
a scene where Harry goes to the owlery to get away from Ron and
Hermione's constant bickering and chooses to stay in the owlery for
what seems like hours, alone and staring out the window. I see this
as a bit of a red flag for what is to come. Harry could very well be
pushed away by R/H but could also pull back from them on his own.
Considering how much he has come to depend on the friendship of both
Ron and Hermione, Harry choosing to isolate himself could be damaging;
Harry is a prime candidate for serious depression, IMO, and that could
seriously weaken Harry's resolve to fight Voldemort and his bevvy of
DEs.
