There's another factor in the hierarchy: how powerful your magic is.
I'd rank Dumbledore above the Governors, even though they hire and
fire him, on the basis of his extraordinary ability; vulnerability and
high status aren't mutually exclusive. It also makes his status with
Fudge complex; Fudge does outrank him, but in terms of magic
Dumbledore is the superior. They also both know that Dumbledore was
first pick for Fudge's job.

Oh, I'd give up my higher-status profession in the Muggle world to be
janitor at Hogwarts, at least for a couple years.

I imagine it's a sliding scale. We C.R.A.B.by ones know what poverty
is. I mean, at 2 Sickles each, the Weasleys would be out almost a
precious Galleon buying memberships for everyone. Of course, Gred and
Forge might not *want* to join.
Likewise, Tabouli, the low price for membership in W.O.W.W.W. reflects
its radical politics. Like the Catholic Worker costing a penny.
ROTFL to LOLLIPOPS and FLIRTIAC! I won't be joining either, but the
tragic story of Argus and Mrs. N almost made me splurt my drink all
over the keyboard.

Wow, really? I think that is a very weak example. This is someone
else's secret--Sirius's, and Harry's too--and it is a life-and-death
matter. Not telling even a close friend is perfectly natural, and I
would think less of her if she did tell.

"Dumbledore, you know what that woman =is=?"
"I consider her to be a very able Headmistress--
and an excellent dancer," said Dumbledore quietly.
