Exactly! Bulgaria wasn't being routed. Once you added in the 150
points they'd get for getting the Snitch, they were very very close.
If Krum had had the faith in his Chasers to wait for them to score
twice more before he went for the Snitch, his team would have won. I
can't think of a parallel, because there's no Muggle sport I know
of in which a player has the power to singlehandedly end the game
while his team is behind, but it seems to me that his teammates would
have some serious hexes waiting for Viktor. A close match is little
comfort to a team that's just lost the final.

I don't think he took a dive (lol), but I don't think Harry's
explanation is convincing either. Now, if they had been going on for
three days, with Bulgaria consistently coming within 180 points of
Ireland but Ireland's Chasers always pulling ahead, =then= I could
understand his thinking that his team was never going to pull within
140 points and he might as well end the thing with dignity. But with
the other Seeker injured and the game so young, I think his catching
the Snitch was impetuous at best.

(Sorry, in-joke--I will explain. I'm an Expos fan; the Expos wereup
by 4 in the 4th; the Mets ended up coming back and beating the Expos
by several runs. Now, if Krum had been pitching...)
