Yes, I'm inclined to agree with Amy.  It is hard to think of a 
parallel, but imagine that we are in the bottom of the Ninth in the 
World Series.  Bulgaria is behind by an insurrmountable amount for a 
baseball game (say, 5 runs with two outs).  If Victor comes to bat, 
does anyone think he would deliberately create an out on the theory 
that, hey, the other team is so good that we'll never win, so let's 
end it now?  Or imagine the same situation, but Victor is on third 
base.  He decides to steal home against outrageous odds so that he 
can "end the game on his own terms."  

The Quiddich World Cup ending bothers the small part of me that has 
any interest in sport, and that's saying something.
