Would that be allowed? The original instructions to first year
students say that a child is allowed to bring a cat or an owl or a
toad. Dogs are not mentioned. Of course, I suppose Dumbledore could
make an exception for Harry, which would also serve to annoy Snape,
as it would give added proof to his contention that Potter doesn't
have to live by the same rules that everyone else is supposed to
follow.
