Well, perhaps Harry didn't match up with Stan's internal image of
what THE BOY WHO LIVED looked like. True, Harry is famous, but
we really don't have much indication that there are many accurate
wizardly photos of him out there... in fact, the one that Colin
took (the one with Lockhart) has Harry trying to escape the
picture! So, considering the situation Harry is in, and the fact
that in his muggle clothes he doesn't necessarily look like a
wizard, I could see Stan not realizing his identity. And Harry
WAS trying to avoid being seen for who he really was.
