I don't know which edition of GofF Finwitch has, but the American 
edition definitely says:""You don't think anything that Skeeter cow--
sorry, Professor," he added quickly, looking at Dumbledore." 
I agree completely that *nothing* should be changed from the British 
text to the American editions.  Even if there are a few unfamiliar 
terms, their meanings are usually easily deciphered by reading in 
context.  We really aren't *that* stupid.
