Interesting question, only one spot open on upcoming year's
team (keeper). what's really going to be interesting is when
Harry's 6th year rolls around, because they'll effectively lose
practically the entire team except the Seeker and the Keeper,
provided the Keeper survives Book V. Maybe they'll bring in
some reserve players to start training 'em up for a year before
they take over for the fantastic five... kind of odd that one year has
so many people on the house team. Half the Gryffindors in Fred
and George's year are on the Quidditch team (assuming 10
students per house per year). book 6 will be fun from a
speculation standpoint...
My best bet is on Ron being brought on as the new Keeper and
Quidditch captain. There is precedent for a new member to be
made captain (Cedric Diggory was mentioned in Book 3: "they've
got a new Captain and Seeker, Cedric Diggory--" (p.168
paperback/ch.9), and I see ron as far better than Harry at
captaining a team, because of his superior strategy-building
abilities. I imagine he's picked up some tips over the years and
understands all the Quidditch positions from his brothers,
whereas Harry as a seeker is somewhat removed from the
hustle and bustle of the game. Plus it'd give Ron really his first
chance so far at exploiting his talents (I didn't mean exploit in a
negative way) to gain some recognition, much as Hermione has
done with her intelligence and Harry has done with his bravery.
If J.K. Rowling wanted to surprise us a little, she'd make Neville
the new keeper. If she really wanted to surprise us, she'd make
Hermione the new keeper. If she really really wanted to bowl us
over so badly we're like, "Where the heck did THAT come from,"
say hello to the new Gryffindor keeper--Parvati Patel or Lavender
Brown. Really though, wouldn't it be interesting to see one of the
"ditzes" (that's what they've been painted as so far) be revealed
to have amazing athletic abilities? But honestly, my money's on
Ron. He's shown interest, and he's gotta be decent... if Harry
had Quidditch in his blood from his dad, surely Ron with a
seeker/captain and two beaters for brothers has it in loads (and
we were never told that Bill WASN'T on the Quidditch team).
Allt he same, I'm really wondering whom they're going to put on
the Quidditch team in the kiddos' sixth year. I dont' imagine
they'll put too many people from HRH's year, just because they'd
be on there for only 2 years. Younger kids? Who knows, but it
should be interesting... I imagine the Creevey brothers would be
interesting beaters :P
I *really* need to be doing something more productive, but
organic chemistry just isn't interesting me at the moment :/
