While we were all in a frenzy of waiting for Book IV to be released,
I thought that in it Fred and George would be chosen Co-Captains.
(I think the Captain is chosen by the team members.) Some people said
there can only be one captain, and I said I bet there can be an
exception for Fred and George. Some people said they are too
irresponsible to be captain, and I said being captain would force
them to learn to be responsible.
However, after GoF, I don't think Fred and/or George will be chosen
captain in Book V. I think the other team members will unanimously
acclaim Harry as captain because now, as Triwizard Champion, he is
an even bigger celebrity than he had been as star Seeker, rescuer of
Ginny in CoS, and the Boy who Lived. I also think that even if the
other team members voted for Fred and George to be co-captains, they
would decline because they don't have time to be players AND captain
AND prepare for their joke shop. I say, it's the joke shop (running a
business) that will teach them responsibility now.
Speaking of the joke shop, Elfun Debbie either wrote or quoted (it has

I don't think the twins resorted to near-blackmail. I think they just
tried to write a firm letter requesting an adult who definitely owed
them money to Pay Up, and we overheard them cautioning each other not
to make it sound like blackmail.
'Resorted to gambling' doesn't sound right, either. Don't all Brits
have a bet now and then? As most USAmericans who work in big offices
throw a dollar into an office pool connected in some vague manner with
the Superbowl, or to group up to buy as many $1 lottery tickets as
possible when the prize is going to be a record-setting number of
millions.

wonderful search tool, pointed me to
http://www.comicrelief.com/harrysbooks/pages/transcript3.shtml which
includes:
Q:- Have any of the Hogwarts professors had spouses?
JKR:- Good question - yes, a few of them but that information is sort
of restricted - you'll find out why.
That is, some of the Hogwarts professors were or are married. We have
absolutely no information on whether Cornelius Fudge is married --
when would his wife come up in the story? Sirius was in Azkaban,
Remus is subjected to so much prejudice against werewolves that he
can't even get a job, and Bertha was also an unpopular person.

I never noticed that I should be curious about it while I was reading
PoA, but other people did. One speculation that I've seen is that he
thought Miss Smartypants might have figured out that he was a
werewolf and produce some Boggart that would give the secret away to
others.

Yes, oh yes! She seems to be so EXACTLY what he wants as a student.
She's so bright and works so hard and listens in class and wants to
know everything there is to know about potions (about all other
subjects, too) -- NOT a dunderhead -- AND she is desperate to gain
approval and liking from her professors: that first lesson, with her
hand stretched further and further into the air, it seemed so
incredibly OBVIOUS to me that she wasn't trying to impress the other
kids, and she wasn't doing my elementary-school failing of getting
bored with the idiotic search for a missing but obvious answer and
wanting to supply the missing answer so that the class could go on to
something else, hopefully more interesting. It was so incredibly
obvious to me that she was trying to win Professor Snape's approval.
Surely that is the motivation that he would approve highly of!
I had to understand Snape's feeling toward Hermione because I am
writing a fanfic about Snape. The best I could figure out and/or make
up was that he's convinced that she disrespects him (which, if true,
it took him four years to make true!) and thinks she is mocking him.
In that case, he is so far off the mark that I had to figure out
and/or make up why he went into that particular fantasy universe, and
all I could figure was that he was furious at her for interfering
with his taunting of Potter and therefore tried to justify his
resentment by interpreting everything she did in the worst possible
way.
While I was writing & re-writing the above (it may not look like the
result of great effort, but it is),
Porphyria posted a much better statement:

But also said:

He should have noticed that she respects him and tries to win his
approval IN CLASS, not needed to wait until an adventure at the end
of third year!
