Snape v Hermione the Mudblood - and a little Lollipops

I've read all the theories about Snapes treatment of Hermione with
great interest, and have another idea to add to the melting pot:

Isn't it possible that another reason that Snape hates Hermione is
that she is a "Mudblood". Whilst we do not know why Snape became a DE
or why he chose to recant, there must surely have been some aspect of
the "ideology" that appealed to him. Of course, it might have been
pure hatred of the marauders, or dissatisfaction with Dumbledore, but
Voldemort's message might also have driven the young Dark Arts
fanatic.

Snape might have seen the error of his ways, but that does not
automatically mean he sees Muggle-born wizards as the equals of
Purebloods.

Sometimes I wonder if many of us (well me anyway) are so convinced of
his love for Lily that we forget that he could have remained bigoted
despite this. Whilst I believe in the Lollipops theory, this could
actually add to Snape's hatred of "Mudbloods". Lily, the muggleborn
spurning him could have poured fuel on his hatred. Snape could have
fallen for Lily despite his prejudice.

Perhaps as recent posters have suggested, Hermione shares some of the
attributes of Lily Evans. Snape might not like to see these,
particularly in a friend of the loathesome Harry Potter.
