I have to say, when it comes to Snape, I personally am of the school
of thought that he is very much a (albeit very dark) reformed
character. I agree with the notion that he is breeding weak future
death eaters for Voldemort, and think it is ingenius, whoever,
thought of it! Dumbledore seems to know how to handle him, and
seeing as Snape has already reformed from his dark ways, it seems
unlikely he would return, having 'seen the light' as it were!
The fact that Snape is (seemingly) asked to return to Voldemort as a
spy for Dumbledore at the end of GoF only supports his cover. He is
seemingly the perfect death eater, yet is actually actively
undermining the Dark Wizardfs by developing weak willed youngsters
such as Malfot Jnr. to join the fold.
There is obviousely a lot whichis unknown about Snape, but I believe
he really will turn out as a dark hero. Every way you look at his
actions, he is seemingly protecting Harry and Co, by trying to keep
them alert, and willing to fight him. He presents them with exactly
the image of a dark wizard they need in order to form the right
impressions of Voldemort and his Death Eaters, so they can fight
them with the amount of conviction they will need later in the
series. Snape is an incredibly complex, yet brilliant character, I
think, and well worth further discussion!
Cheers,
Rob
