You're probably right. Molly (and Arthur with her) are at St.Mungo's
when *David* dies. But I have a theory that Percy is with his brother
at his Grandparents house. He is a 3-year old, and told not to go
outside. My 3-year old teaches me every day that the safest way to get
him to do something is to say *don't*. So *Edward*-Percy cries "Leet's
play hide and seek" and runs outside. When David and the Grandparents
get outside, they meet the Deatheater without being prepared. Percy,
safe in his hiding-place, has to witness their deaths. And for him, it
is *all his fault*. His parents will tell him it is not (what can a
3-year old do) but for Percy, breaking the rule caused it all.
Everyone stops talking about David, to make it easier for Percy. Every
time someone calls him Ed or Eddy he starts crying, maybe because
David had had a similar nickname for him. So Molly and Arthur decide
to call Edward by his second name.

And, to put a little more grief upon Mollies head :), the story goes
on.
After F&G, little Harry Weasly is born. About 18 months later, Molly
is pregnant again, when she hears the story of Harry Potter and
Voldemort. The excitement (and perhaps the grief, that if this had
happened earlier, David would still be alive) caused the babies to
come earlier than awaited. Twin girls are born (it is not unusual,
once twins are in the family)- Ingrid and Jennifer. Only Jenny
survives. When F&G see the baby they are told *this is Jenny*, but
they say Ginny- and it stuck.

This would explain, how overprotective Molly is with Ginny.
One of my twin-daughters died shortly after her birth and it took a
long time and hard work, not to see her grave every time her
twin-sister had as much as a cold or a nose-bleed. I'm still
overprotective, but I know why, so I try to work against it. For Molly
it would be the second child-death, and that is absolutely impossible
to cope with. The constant rule-breaking of F&G would scare Molly too,
she'd be afraid they get themselves into real trouble sooner or
later.

So, here is the Weasly-family:
Arthur
Bill
Charlie
David
Fred & George
Edward - Percy
Ingrid and Jennifer *Ginny*

Perhaps, if the two child-deaths had not happened, there would have
been Kathleen and Luis until we finally get to Molly <vbg>.

Again, this is a theory, pure speculation, far-fetched canon -based
fun.....

But it fits, doesn't it?
