If I'm not mistaken, the Grey Lady is the Ravenclaw
ghost, correct? Could she perhaps be the spirit of
Rowena Ravenclaw. I really have to agree with those
who've said that it doesn't make sense for the heir of
Salazar Slytherin (Mrs. Riddle or whatever her name
was) to be a Ravenclaw ghost--to be sorted into that
house is one thing, because as Rowling so often
reminds us, it's not our abilities but our choices
that define us. But it seems odd that she'd become
something that seems to be an integral part of each
house (could you see the Bloody Baron as the
Hufflepuff ghost?). Plus, I can't see the Ravenclaw
ghost having much interaction with Riddle, especially
since he seems to be very proud of his Slytherin
heritage and house. I actually am really curious
about how he found out he was the last remaining
descendant of Salazar Slytherin if he was in an
orphanage if his mom didn't tell him; I can't imagine
Hogwarts professors were especially anxious for the
heir of Slytherin to embrace his heritage.
I too am really looking forward to finding out more
about Riddle's mother. I want to find out what she
was like--maybe the fact that she fell in love with a
Muggle indicates that she did not embrace her
slytherin heritage and would not be happy to see what
her son has become (it's ironic that he hates
Mudblood's so much when he's half a Mudblood--i
think). It does sound like true love, since it sounds
like she envisioned a happy future for them and was
really dejected when he rejected her (after all, if
she didn't love him, why reveal her magical status if
all she was after was... well, y'know :) ). And why
give Tom his father's name? You know, I don't know if
anyone here has seen the pilot episode for Bewitched,
but I imagine that magical people telling their
spouses or significant others about their magical
talents is much like it is shown in that show :P (I
can just see poor ol' Mr. Finnigan down at the pub
after his nasty shock :D)
Oh, and Christine, the whole bit about Ron as the
shoulder-devil and Hermione as the shoulder-angel was
not mine, but it's funny right? And don't get me
wrong, may not be the biggest fan of the Harry/Ginny
pairing at the moment, but like I said, there's
another 2000 pages to go, and the way Rowling writes,
that's a lot of room for her to develop it
satisfactorily. And I am definitely a fan of young
Ginny Weasley--I think she, much like Neville, are
going to prove to be a lot more formidable than
they've been presented to be so far. I dunno, It'd be
nice for someone other than the trio to save the day
for once...
Tabouli, Grey Wolf, there's an acronym challenge for
ya'... Ginny and Neville proving themselves to be more
formidable wizards than anyone's given 'em credit for
so far.
