Crouch Jr./Moody is going about being dreadful to all the ex-DE's he 
can find - Snape, Karakoff, Lucius (by way of Draco the Amzing 
Bouncing Ferret) . . . .  He doesn't approach any of them, as he 
can't stand DE's who didn't do their time in Azkaban as he did.  I 
don't think it's clear whether he knows Snape turned or not, although 
Moody certainly did, and thus Crouch could easily find out.

For Hagrid, there is an inverse relationship between the fierceness 
of the name and the fierceness of the creature.  (If he assumes this 
is true for other people, it explains why he doesn't think much of 
Draco . . .)
