I think you're right,David.  Ron has done some real maturing between 
the beginning of GoF and the end.  He doesn't seem any more 
vulnerable to Fleur than Harry is by this point. He is even able to 
overcome his jealosy towards Kurm enough to ask for his autograph, 
even though he's still worried about his possible relationship with 
Hermione.
