Dumbledore, Flamel, and Fawkes

I know there've been tons of discussions about Dumbledore and Flamel, 
and Dumbledore and Fawkes, but I was just musing about Flamel this 
morning, his age, and whether he has actually died yet or not.  I 
just suddenly wondered if there could be any connection between 
Flamel and Fawkes (flame/phoenix?)  I've been all through the FAQ's 
and the lexicon and didn't find any discussion on it there.  Any 
ideas, or is it just that there's no discussion on it because it's 
too farfetched or stupid to talk about?  :)
