The Golden Egg-- Dragon Hide is immune to magic. A Dragon-Egg-shell
would, I believe, be also immune to magic. The Golden Egg was located
in the middle of Dragon Eggs, protected by them-- and possibly it was
anti-magical, as well. Also, gold IS heavy, so Harry might not have
been able to summon a heavy item, he may have not been able to do it,
because the golden egg was behind a magic-proof shelter...
None of the OTHER magic users ever did a summoning charm on the egg
either. In fact, the competitors were acting as if they were to have
nothing *but* their wand and personal skill. The sort of self-
limiting instead of actual Rules. Harry summoned an additional item
(which was within rules) but that thought never crossed the mind of
any of the others.
Second Task: What happened to the knife Sirius sent Harry? It would
have been *very* useful in freeing the "victims", also from getting
free from the ropes before Pettigrew took Harry's blood...
Now, the Portkey-system... The boot had a delay - as they were
counting seconds when holding it. The Cup had a delay, too - but
obviously shorter, as there'd be no need for the winner to wait for
others to touch it - nor did Crouch want *any* delay in transferring
Harry to Voldemort.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if Sirius Black and Severus Snape will settle their
differences- As Harry put it, Dumbledore was asking for a near
miracle! Hmm... Arguement over how one should treat Harry? That would
be some scene!
