Could Snape have (or has had) a mental/personalitiy disorder?

 The Axis II coditions (personality disorders) are very hard to 
diagnose even with a very thorough interview.  Most people have 
some variations of these disorders (or combinations of these) 
and are perfectly "normal".  You can find anyone on a bad day 
and say that they fit a perfect Borderline profile, or meet 
someone the day after he has won a marathon and insist that he 
needs help for his obvious Narcissistic personality disorder.  
But, there are very specific criterea for making an Axis II 
diagnosis, and unfortunately, we haven't really seen enough of 
Snape to make that determination.  We know absolutely nothing 
about his personal relationships, or his family history.  We've 
seen Snape only through Harry's eyes.  

Good luck with the psych studies in college.  It is a fun and 
rewarding career, but be warned, you'll die poor :-)
