Ehmmm...urmmmm... Occam's Razor here? I think the cart if before the horse in
saying the Sorting Hat has a family bias. Wouldn't it be as or even more
likely for the way a child is raised, to influence his/her attitudes in a way
the Sorting Hat reads?
Although it seems as if the Sorting Hat sorts members of the same family into the same House, what about the Patil twins? One's a Gryffindor, one's a Ravenclaw. Are they the exception to the rule or are the Weasleys the exception? Personally, I dont' think there's a set pattern here. Some families share all their beliefs and some families have very varied personalities, I think we'll find many examples either way.
