Neville/Snape Question

 I was wondering if anywhere on this board anyone has explored the 
potential of Snape's continual haranguing of Neville being due to the 
fact that Snape feels sorry for him. Snape would obviously know what 
happened to Neville's parents. Snape then would also be aware of a 
memory charm on Neville damaging his memory, if that is in fact what 
is wrong with Neville's memory. I could see Snape knowing what great 
Wizards the Longbottoms were and feeling sorry (in a sense) for 
Neville and thus wanting to somehow prod the potential out of him. 
Someone like Snape I dont think would bully the weakest, least 
talented wizard in his year for no other reason than to be mean. Yes 
Snape is biased, but he has shown no signs of being evil. He has 
tried to save Harry countless times, and is loyal to Dumbledore, 
to the point of risking his life. I just do not see him singleing out 
Neville for no reason. I pretty much don't want to write a huge post 
on the subject if it has already been explored.
