I was wondering if anywhere on this board anyone has explored the
potential of Snape's continual haranguing of Neville being due to the
fact that Snape feels sorry for him. Snape would obviously know what
happened to Neville's parents. Snape then would also be aware of a
memory charm on Neville damaging his memory, if that is in fact what
is wrong with Neville's memory. I could see Snape knowing what great
Wizards the Longbottoms were and feeling sorry (in a sense) for
Neville and thus wanting to somehow prod the potential out of him.
Someone like Snape I dont think would bully the weakest, least
talented wizard in his year for no other reason than to be mean. Yes
Snape is biased, but he has shown no signs of being evil. He has
tried to save Harry countless times, and is loyal to Dumbledore,
to the point of risking his life. I just do not see him singleing out
Neville for no reason. I pretty much don't want to write a huge post
on the subject if it has already been explored.
