Just the smallest of nitpicks: in CoS papa Malfoy reminds his son 
that Hermione had "beat" him in every exam. So, presumably, she got 
higher marks than Draco in Potions as well. 
Aside from that, I agree that Draco is probably quite good at 
potions. In fact, my impression is that he is a good student all 
around. Possibly his self confidence has something to do with this 
impression? In any case, he is smart, ambitious. There's actually no 
reason why he shouldn't be a good student, right?
