To Ahketsi, anglinsbees, adatole and Amanda:
Since the Official Discussion on House-elfs is around
the corner, I hope you won't mind if I hold off on
replying to your posts.

But meanwhile:

Captain Tabouli, I am shocked! What sort of
unskipperlike behaviour is this? What precisely are
you doing aboard the H.M.S Lollipops, may I ask?

O archgarchus! (waving frantically at archgarchus)
Hi! You're not alone in your Bronte fixation-I
mentioned a while back that Snape had some
Heathcliffian tendencies. ("Mention" being the
operative word though). There's something about a
dark, windswept, rebellious orphaned type pining for
his one true love, isn't there? Oh the angst! I also
like the idea that Snape may have been abandoned as a
child-gives him something in common with Harry, as
well as shaping his outlook on life. Perhaps as an
urchin Snape haunted the infamous Knockturn Alley.
Here he was exposed to Dark magic, which explains why
he knew more curses than his fellow 11 year olds at
Hogwarts (Sirius' words). Hence a fascination with
the Dark Arts that dates from childhood.

Unfortunately, my own theorylet "S.N.A.P.E.C.L.I.F.F."
(Swarthy Nursling Abuses Potter jr., Enraged he Caused
Lilly's Immolation; will Fester Forever) never left
the harbour. Perhaps Captain Tabouli needs some extra
ballast for the H.M.S. Lollipops, in which case
S.N.A.P.E.C.L.I.F.F. is ready to be of service! She
needs to get back to the business of running her ship
anyway. V.I.A.G.R.A. indeed...

Ama, who will forever languish in Theory Bay, paddling
her inflatable raft in the shallows, too distracted by
the pellucid waters, the flotsam and jetsam, the gulls
squawking, to ever have a life at sea...
